Kaufman joins the Wild for his first season of professional football after a successful career at Bethel College. After graduating from Bethel in 2008, Kaufman served as assistant DB coach for two years for the Threshers. The Moundridge, KS native starred at safety for four years and recorded 23 career interceptions. As a senior in 2007 he was named to the NAIA All-Decade team by Team Victory Sports Network, named KCAC Player of the Year, recognized as KCAC Defensive Player of the Year, named an All-American, and was a unanimous All-KCAC selection. His senior campaign resulted in a KCAC championship for Bethel while recording nine interceptions in eight games.
In 2006, Kaufman was elected to 1st team All-KCAC and awarded All-American honors, while leading Bethel to a record of 9-2 and a KCAC Championship. During Kaufman's sophomore season, he achieved All-KCAC honors while returning punts and starting at safety. He also played in every game at defensive back of his freshman season in 2004.
Kaufman played his high school football at Moundridge High School. He was named 11-man Defensive Player of the Year by the Hutch News, Elite 11 by the Wichita Eagle, and received All-State honors as a senior.
