McAlmont started his professional career in 2006 with the Macon Knights of Arena Football2. In the summer of 2006, McAlmont was signed by the New York Giants and participated in their training camp before being released.
The Union City, GA native was signed by the Denver Broncos in January of 2007 and was assigned to NFL Europe by the team and played for the Berlin Thunder.
McAlmont's last stop before joining the Wild was the New Orleans Voodoo of the Arena Football League (AFL), where he played during the 2008 season.
McAlmont started his final 28 games for the Western Carolina Catamounts at left guard where he led the way for current Wild running back Darius Fudge.
